About Bruce Cunningham

Bruce Cunningham (born 1936 in Queens, NY) was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A Norwich University graduate and Army Reserve Captain, he built an impressive career founding two airlines and three consulting firms, and holding executive roles with American Airlines, Pan Am, the Ford Foundation, and System One Corp. Appointed by Presidents Ford and Carter, he served as Director of the Bureau of Operating Rights on the U.S. Civil Aeronautics Board—a role he deeply valued.

After moving to The Woodlands in 1989, Bruce became a pillar of the community including eight-time president of the Grogan’s Mill Village Association, six-time president of the MUD Board, co-founder of The Woodlands Farmer’s Market and Aging in Place, and a 2016 “Hometown Hero.”

A talented chef, avid cyclist, and world traveler, Bruce loved reading and sharing his knowledge. In later years, he often said, “It is crucial to exercise, socialize, and have a purpose.”
